Any top side needs an in-form striker they can rely upon for goals, but the truly great players provide for their teammates as well as scoring themselves. 


As Europe’s top league competitions finally come to a close, here’s a look back at players whose ‘goal involvement’ has been exemplary this season, those elite players who have topped the European charts for combined goals and assists…



Quincy Promes has been tearing up the Russian Premier League this season. He’s been involved in 21 goals (12 goals and nine assists) as Massimo Carerra’s side regained the league title in style.


The 25-year-old Dutch international has been superb this season and will be crucial to  Krasno-Belye’s title defence.



Cavani has been a constant threat for PSG this season, with his superb tally of 35 goals and four assists bringing his combined stats up to 39.


Despite his best efforts, the Parisians couldn’t catch Monaco, who ran away with the Ligue 1 title this season. 



‘Kane-aldo’ loves nothing more than bagging himself a goal, but he’s also provided important assists this season. 


His hat-trick of left footed goals in Tottenham’s 7-1 demolition of Hull on the closing day of the season earned him the Golden Boot, on 29 goals. Combined with his seven assists, Kane maintains some of the best ‘goal involvement’ stats in Europe.



Lionel Messi continues to defy age and description. Though Barcelona missed out on the league title on the final day of the season, Messi’s staggering 37 goals and nine assists once again proved why many consider him the best ever.


And the diminutive Argentinian shows no signs of slowing down on the big stages, managing 11 goals in nine games in Europe this season.



Robert Lewandowski’s attempts to top the goalscoring charts were in vain as he was pipped to the Torjagerkanone on the last day of the season by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but he will get some consolation from a 5th consecutive Bundesliga title.


The Polish international was voted Bayern’s Player of the Season and provided a massive 30 goals and five assists.



Tottenham target Dries Mertens has been on fire for Napoli this season, and will take the race for Serie A’s Golden Boot to the final day.


He’s contributed an impressive 27 goals and nine assists at the Stadio San Paolo and would be take Mauricio Pochettino’s side to the next level were he to move.



Nicolai Jorgensen will be hot property this summer after firing in 21 goals and providing 11 assists as Feyenoord stormed the Eredivisie to seal an unprecedented league title.


The Dane’s eye for goal has been crucial to Feyenoord’s successes this season and manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst will be anxious to keep him at De Kuip next season.
